Keys to the Enneagram: How to Unlock the Highest Potential of Every Personality Type by A. H. Almaas
The Enneagram is part of an ancient teaching that has become quite popular. The internet, magazines, books, and workshops are abundant as so many strive for self-knowledge and understanding.
This book focuses less on the popularity of “type” and more on the patterns that can help us see who we are outside of the patterns.
For each of the 9 types, there is an idealized aspect which we habitually rely on. This idealized aspect foreshadows the
true essential quality that is inherent in each type, and in each of us as human beings. Through a process of presence, awareness, and practice, one can grow from the limiting idealized aspect to the essential quality.
Here’s an example: In Type 8, the idealized aspect is Strength. It may show up as brute strength or aggression in words or deeds. This is ego in action. The presence of True Strength shows up as assertive strength with a focus of what is needed at the time. No more, no less. This strength can appear as the life force itself and includes energy and creative aliveness. It may include a sense of expansion and courage. Awareness and presence support True Strength.
Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or long-time student/practitioner, this book offers insights and practical applications.
