Build Energy for Change

Spring is the season of renewal.  Are you anticipating making changes this spring?  If so, this is a good time to build energy and find support for change.

Find Inspiration

Inspiration is key to building energy.  Time in nature, cultural arts, reading, creative pursuits, and learning support inspiration. Look for signs of  spring and watch them change.
Prepare Your Body
Preparing the body involves the common-sense practices of movement, nutrition, rest, and relaxation. Sleep, rest, and relaxation balance the outward movement while renewing body and mind. Experiment with new ways to relax from yoga to music to dinner with friends.
Complete What’s Already Started
Close open loops.  This is finishing things that need completion.  It may mean re-negotiating promises or removing something from your to-do list. Do you have to prune anything before new growth begins?
Remember What’s Most Important
If you’ve taken on new projects over the winter, re-evaluate your priorities. What’s most important in the coming season?
Enlist Support

Practice of the Month

Mindful Walking
While walking, fast or slow, notice any sensations in the soles of your feet.  Feel  your feet as they meet the ground.  Are the steps hard or soft, quick or slow, even or uneven?
When your mind wanders, bring your attention back to the sensations in the soles of your feet.
Why? Mindful walking may cultivate presence, focus, and relaxation.
